I chose this painting because the mystery in it intrigues me yet the landscape in the background is calming. The women adds a calming effective to this painting as well, she seems relaxed reading her book. The landscape in the window of the painting shows the time of day that it is night time, so I assume she is coming home from work. The choice of colors in this painting is a great choice everything blends so well. The details in the painting is impeccable.
