I chose this painting by Henri Matisse because I liked the meaning of it, being; the meaning of the here and now. In the article it says that he used different types of brush strokes, which I found interesting. He also left a lot of canvas in the painting, which is very stocking because I have never seen a painter actually leave that space. The story behind how he got into painting also interested me as well.
