Edward Hopper

This piece is called Summer Interior by Edward Hopper 1909. I chose this piece due to the overall mood it represents. The woman looks as if she its miles away in her own head, battling with herself over a loss of some sort. The fact that she is partially nude shows that she is vulnerable, and not making eye contact shows that she does not care anymore. The shadowed room a also adds to this depressing scenario as well as the messy bed, which can be looked at as an extension of her own messy life. Overall i think that this piece portrays its message very well.
