Fauvism

This painting is Called Big Ben and was painted by Andre Derain. It was painted around 1905. And was painted using oil on canvas. This is not the first time I've seen this painting. I've always loved how abstract it looks. And although parts of it is very monotone it is still very vibrant. I do appreciate that i know what this style of painting is called now (fauvism). The article is also very interesting. Especially saying that this type of painting was looked down upon at its time. I think these paintings are very bright and cheery. I also noticed with most fauvism painting that the artist used very many hard short brush strokes, which I thought was interesting.
