TED Talk

This painting was created by Jean Michel Basquait in 1982 and is called Self Portrait. This image stood out to me because it looks very primitive. In Genevieve Von Petzinger’s TED Talk, she explained how cave painting were a way of communication, but not exactly a form of writing. She goes on to say these cave painting give us an insight to the past and how we may interpret or try to figure out what its meanings are. This painting does just that, without a title this may be interpreted in many ways. It may be a drawing of a hunter given the spear in his hand. Or even a builder given the blocks on the lower right of the painting. This painting is open to a lot of interpretations just as cave paintings are.
