I chose this painting by Michelangelo Caravaggio due to its reality. The people depicted in the picture surrounding Jesus are shown with fear and sadness of what is taking place, whereas Jesus is shown complacent with was is happening. Another reason I chose this painting was due to the mastery at using light and dark, also known as Chiaroscuro. The use of Chiaroscuro shows the detailed imagery of their emotions throughout the entirety of this painting.
