Jean-Michel Basquiat was a New York
artist who participated in the neo-expressionism movement. Neo-expressionism
artwork usually portrays objects in a very abstract way with a variety of
colors. Jean-Michel Basquiat uses a
mixture of traditions and practices to develop his artwork that are associated
with African art.
The artwork by Jean-Michel Basquiat
that I chose is Philistines. I found this painting to be very interesting and
engaging. I really liked his choice of color and how he incorporates the different
colors together. I felt that this painting related to Genevieve Von Petzinger’s TED
talk due to the profound use of abstract shapes.
