Michaelangelo Caravaggio

Caravaggio serves as an inspiration to everyone and his work will continue to be admired by generations to come. His art depicted a new form of realism that was unseen of before and opened up doors for future artists. Instead of focusing on saints and good behavior, he focused on a closer subject. His subjects were ordinary people and he often captured the moment they sinned. By exposing normal human behavior, he was able to recreate accurate scenes as if they occured right in front of him, such as his painting Cardsharps. The close detail and effort put in almost makes the viewer forget he painted straight onto the canvas without sketching.
