I chose this painting by Paul Gauguin, Manao Tupapau. I like this painting because Paul painted his wife and he chose to put the ghostly like figure to be a "watching female spirit", in the background to have the meaning of the painting be a mystery and for the people that want to interpret it to create their own. This also is a good example of combining the ordinary and the extraordinary.
