Paul Gauguin

Paul Gauguin was a French post-impressionist artist known for his experimental use of color. The painting that stood out to me among his other artwork is Maternite II. This is an oil on canvas painting. I love the vibrant colors in the background and how he focused the detail on the females. I like the details on their face and how he used light colors to highlight parts of their face and body which makes them look more realistic. I also like how the nursing mother and infant are on the ground which draws the viewers eyes to them.
