After watching the TED Talk in class on Tuesday, I was very interested in all the paintings that there actually are in caves and what they all mean. Jean Michel Basquait's paintings are similar to the ones in the caves because they don't look like they mean anything but really, there is a lot of history to them. This painting Boy and dog in Johnnypump by Jean Michel Basquait doesn't look like much but to the artist, there is a lot of history behind it. I picked this painting because the colors he used stood out to me as well as the representation of the boy and his dog. I think Basquait is reflecting on his childhood with his pet dog he had as child and all the memories that he has of that time. This is similar to the cave drawings in the TED Talk because there is an animal represented and a person without much detail to them but it a lot of history and meaning behind it.
