Michelangelo Caravaggio

The video we watched in class about Michelangelo Caravaggio was very interesting to me because he is very unique compared to other painters.  He would free hand paintings without drawing anything first and he painted a lot of self portraits which both are very challenging to do.  The reason I chose the painting is because I liked how dramatic the change from light to dark is.  The self portrait itself is also dramatic, just the way he is looking and the shadows of light and dark really makes the painting come together nicely.
