After watching the TED Talk with Genevieve Von Petzinger, it made me realize that there is more to art then just art. Art is more than a painting or a sculpture, it's a way of communication. This painting Riding with Death by Jean Michel Basquait can be interpreted in many different ways. After doing some research on Basquait, I like that this painting depicts himself and his struggle with addiction to drugs. Riding with death and showing the skeleton is like a foreshadow of his death. The dark colors of the individual riding the skeleton really stood out the most to me and caught my attention.
