I thought the movie clip that we watched on Van Gogh was very interesting. I didn't know much about his personal life before so most of it was new to me. I thought it was intriguing that he really dedicated his life to art after being kicked out of the church. He had such a contrast from his brother who seemed well of in the movie and himself who lived like the poor. I chose this painting because I really like the unique use of brushstrokes and the simple yet interesting background. I have been to see this painting in the MET and when I first saw it there I really liked the use of color in the face (its not all skin tone) and the facial expression.
