Paul Gauguin was a great artist and like most artists his art wasn't appreciated till after his death. He was a French post-impressionist artist. This painting is called Mata Mua and was created in 1892. Gauguin traveled to a village in Tahiti in 1891 hoping to find inspiration, this was one of the paintings that was created during the time he spent there. I especially like this painting because the tone on the landscape is well done and you can see that there is lighting coming from the mountains. I also like that the women in the painting are in motion and not just posing.
